Vein Treatments

Laser: Treatment for Spider Veins

Spider Veins are dilated small blood vessels that are tiny, thin veins that range in color. Although they can be inconspicuous at first, over time they usually become easily visible through the skin. This and can affect a person’s self confidence and can even stop a person from choosing what they want to wear!

Laser based treatments with the Cutera xeo® offer an effective, non-invasive, non- surgical way to minimize the visible discoloration caused by mild to moderate vascular damage, like spider veins. The precisely calibrated laser targets the distressed vein with light, causing the ravished vessel to painlessly reabsorb into the body, minimizing and eliminating the appearance of discoloration in the skin. The Cutera xeo® YAG laser includes a cooling tip to help keep the surface of the skin relaxed and at a cool temperature. After treatment patients are able to return to normal activities immediately. Depending on the severity of the veins, multiple treatments might be required.

Sclerotherapy- Treatment for Spider Veins

How does sclerotherapy work?

Sclerotherapy is the preferred treatment for spider veins. During your procedure, Vein Houston will inject a sclerosing solution into the spider veins. The solution irritates the lining of the vessel, causing it to close. Overtime, your body will absorb the treated vein.

What to expect during Sclerotherapy?

You might experience a slight discomfort from the tiny needle sticks. The injected solution may cause slight itching sensation.  Every session usually lasts 30 minutes. The mild discomfort often is relieved by wearing compression stocking after the procedure.

How many sessions will I need?

This usually depends on the extent of the disease.  Typically, Vein Houston recommends several treatment sessions. You will be able to walk following the treatment and recovery time is typically short.

Ambulatory Microphlebectomy

Ambulatory microphlebectomy is a procedure for treating surface varicose veins. Oftentimes, this procedure is performed after a patient has received venous closure procedures to treat the larger feeder veins of the leg (great saphenous veins and small saphenous veins). Among these patients, few may have persistent surface varicose veins. These patients will be the ideal candidate for this procedure.

How is the procedure performed?

Before the procedure, the bulging surface veins are outlined with a skin marker. Local anesthetic is then injected to numb any potential discomfort stain. Tiny pin point pinholes are made over the area of varicose veins and special tiny instruments are used to remove these veins. The small puncture wounds do not require stitches and leaves no visible scars or blemishes.

Ambulatory Micro phlebectomy

What to expect after the procedure

Ambulatory Microphlebectomy is an outpatient treatment and only requires peel anesthetic. You may return to work and normal light activity the next day.
